EMDR Therapy
Trauma has a way of staying stuck, replaying in the present as if it never ended. At Goldwell Institute, we use EMDR therapy to help you process those memories so they lose their grip. It is one of the core modalities we build into treatment plans here, tailored to what you actually need.
How EMDR Therapy Works in Treatment
Painful memories have a way of sticking around, showing up long after the moment has passed and shaping how you feel today. EMDR therapy gives us a way to work with those memories directly. In a session, one of our licensed clinicians guides you through recalling a difficult experience while following a repeated back-and-forth motion, often the therapist's hand or a set of tones. Over time, the memory loses some of its charge.
We use EMDR alongside your other treatment for trauma, anxiety, and the triggers tied to substance use, adjusting the pace as you grow stronger.
